The majority of hotels in the industry are owned by franchises btw. just keep that in mind if you ever have a bad experience at a hotel with a major brand. For example, the red lion in Cromwell was horribly mismanaged, but there is plenty of much better red lion franchised hotels out there.

I deal with this every convention I go to. It's hard to ignore them, it's even harder to not worry.

Best advice I can give is, fill your time with worth while people, find panels and events that spark your interest. Make plans to do dinner. And always remind yourself, you have as much privilege to be at that con as they do! If they talk behind your back, that's where it belongs! Behind you! If people believe them, why would you want ignorant people to even step in to your personal space.

They aren't bad to build but all the wiring is soldered, then has a plate glued over the access hole. I've used them for when I absolutely drench them in IPA and they dry them out well.

I saw this on the hotel booking website as part of the agreement text for booking the room for the event. It may have been boiler text that doesn't apply to FurPoc, and may have since been removed, but it was there when I booked my room.

I've seen similar text when booking rooms for other cons as well, so it was not something unusual to me. I just didn't expect to get so close to the con and still not have paid for my room yet.

I wouldn't worry; the hotel's calling time is running on their own schedule, so they'd have to be creating a violation of their policy for there to even be a violation, because they have to reach out to get your card info on file in the first place. ::3
